Better, not Perfect

by: Heather Clayton

About two months ago now, I went to the Alchemy intro class at the North Loop location. Coming from a completely un-athletic background, I was happy to have survived my first class. (Thanks Alex!)

From there, I kept going?but I?m not going to lie, the first few classes were tough; I had no idea what a snatch was, I always either grabbed weights that were too heavy or too light, and I spent more time trying to get into my pull-up bands than actually doing the pull-ups. Having done yoga previously, Alchemy was unlike anything I was used to. But with all that, what made it worth it was how fun the classes were and that I loved the progress I had started to see.

When the opportunity to do the 365 Challenge came up, I was nervous. A few months ago my best friend did a similar food challenge to 365 and I remember thinking ?That is so not for me, I love carbs. And desserts. And diet coke. Preferably at every meal.? But for some reason, I was drawn to the 365 Challenge and decided to push myself to go all in.

Almost two weeks into the Challenge now, and I?ve been doing well in some parts and not so well in others. But at the end of the day, it?s about better, not perfect. Even my fianc? says he is surprised I?ve avoided the carbs, desserts, and Diet Coke.

Had I done all this on my own, I don?t think I ever would have been successful. It is the support and community at Alchemy that drives me to be better every day while I?m on the Challenge, and once I?m off.

If I?ve learned anything from the Alchemy Intro Class to now on the 365 Challenge, it?s that it might be scary to go all-in, but it is so worth it. At Alchemy you?ll never be doing it alone.

Heather is an Alchemy North Loop Member and her experience thus far is one that so many of our Members, Challengers, and overall community can relate to.
