Fitness and Pregnancy at Alchemy 365

Member Feature: Maggie Hart.

It?s safe to say we?re obsessed with our Athletes. Everyone comes to class ready to give it their all, no matter the day. There?s one Athlete in particular who has been standing out the past ? almost ? 9 months: Maggie Hart.

For more than three years she?s been crushing workouts with us in Denver, and the past 8 months of her pregnancy she?s continued to PR and reach new goals.

Whether you?re expecting, plan to, or handling any sort of changes in your body, your fitness and exercise journey can evolve with it. Let Maggie tell you how Alchemy is doing that for her:

What do you like about Alchemy and what keeps you coming back?

Alchemy pushes me to be better every single day. Since starting at Alchemy, I?ve PR?ed every barbell lift, did my first MURPH (at 5 months pregnant), and achieved un-assisted pull ups; a movement I had been working on for years prior to becoming a member. Alchemy?s classes give you the opportunity to prove to myself that I can do hard things on a daily basis. What keeps me coming back is the incredible community. The amount of people I?ve met at the gym has been amazing and there?s nothing better than working out with friends!

How does Alchemy fit into your pregnancy journey?

Alchemy has allowed me to stay as motivated and as active as possible throughout my pregnancy.  You can modify and adjust every workout as needed depending on how far along you are on your pregnancy to ensure a safe and effective workout!

Any advice for moms, or moms-to-be, wanting to stay active during pregnancy?

Listen to your body. You will have days where you feel strong and capable, and you?ll have days where all you can handle is a walk around the neighborhood. Know that any movement is better than nothing and give yourself grace.

On the other hand, don?t be afraid to push yourself. Your body and your baby are more resilient than you think! The stronger you go into pregnancy and birth, the easier your recovery will be. So don?t be afraid to lift weights and build muscle ? your body will thank you in the long run!

Maggie is a member at Alchemy Tennyson and LoHi crushing both Barbell and Cardio classes. Outside the studio, she works as a pediatric physical therapist and loves hiking followed by happy hour (pre-pregnancy) with her corgi and husband!
