March MAXness

by Tyler Quinn

You?ve probably of heard March Madness, the term commonly used to describe the NCAA Basketball tournament, which goes on endlessly and which causes millions of people to fill out brackets, and which almost always includes the University of Wisconsin late into the tournament. One characteristic of basketball games during March Madness is that the final minute of each game takes 10-20 minutes to elapse due to silly rules and well, you know, basketball.

Well, we?re putting our own little spin on said term ? welcome to March MAXness. For every workout during the month of March, the final 60 seconds of each workout will be a single modality sprint; one movement, as many reps as possible. Because of the intensity, because of the exhaustion, because of the desire to push one?s limit, the last minute of every workout in March will, like March Madness basketball games, will feel like it goes on forever.

Even better still, as athletes you will get the chance to repeat each week and test your limits, should you feel the urge to try. You can do this because there will be consistency with the day and movement each week.

Mondays -> Burpees
Tuesday -> Squat Jumps
Wednesday -> Push-ups
Thursday -> Pull-ups
Friday ->Squat Throws
Saturday -> Jumping Lunges
Sunday -> Alternating Muscle Snatches

The new programming model for this month is meant to be fun. Want to take it up a notch? Start a bracket with a fellow Alchemist and put your money where your burpee is. Swap the icy cold beer for a frothy protein smoothie and let?s celebrate March MAXness everyone!
