March MAXness

By: Tyler Quinn

March MAXness has become one of my favorite Alchemy traditions. It started almost six years ago and every time it comes back around, it seems to get better and more exciting for our athletes.

New to our community and not sure what I?m talking about?

For the month of March, we?ll be sprinkling a little extra heat on all of your Alchemy workouts. In addition to the daily programming, we?ll be adding a single, sixty second sprint of one movement to cap off the day. One minute. As many reps as humanly possible.

Sixty seconds might not seem like such a big deal but remember that time is relative.

Getting a massage? Taking a nice hot shower? Listening to your new favorite song? Sixty seconds is over in the blink of an eye.  On the other hand, dunking into an ice bath or working on your IT band the day after Bulgarian split squats will make time stand still.

Unfortunately, MAXness is more of the latter than the former.

This year, we?re starting the madness with a special workout on March 1 incorporating all the MAXness movements, and we?ll revisit it at the end of the month. Use this as an opportunity to test yourself, and notice how you?ve improved ? whether it?s more reps, increasing weight, or a different modification.

Each day of the week has it?s own MAXness movement. Take note of your reps, and see how you do the next time you revisit each one.

The workout may be over, but MAXness is just beginning.
