Why I Alchemy: Christina Asmus
My journey to Alchemy was an interesting one. I have always been an athlete, growing up playing basketball and volleyball, however it wasn?t until I started doing CrossFit that I started incorporating weightlifting into my workouts. I was instantly hooked, but I also had terrible mobility issues. I wound up injuring my back and needed to take some time off from weightlifting, and found myself in a yoga studio for a few months. It was tremendously healing and exactly what my body needed.
Even though I loved yoga, I really missed the intensity and community of CrossFit. I wished there was a way I could incorporate yoga into my routine without having two separate, costly memberships.
I attended a free Alchemy class and I was instantly impressed at how effective the yoga warm-up was, and even more impressed by the kick-ass workout. I?ll always remember my first class in the studio when I raised my hand, saying it was my first A20. The whole room started clapping. I couldn?t help but smile and feel extremely welcomed into the community. Now, I love having a place where all the coaches know my name, know when my birthday is, and know exactly what weight I should be using or when I should drop an assistance band.
The world of fitness has completely changed my life. I could be having the worst day but as soon as I?m in the gym, everything immediately gets better and brighter. I love that I get to start my day by seeing friends. I love knowing that I?ve already tackled a hard workout before I?ve even stepped foot into the office for the day.
The vision behind Alchemy is beautiful: inspiring people to live their fullest lives and to pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles they may encounter. I believe life is lived best when you live relentlessly whole-hearted.
Whatever Christina does, she does it with a smile that lights up the room. She loves volleyball, traveling and exploring new places, listening to audiotapes, and photography. Check out her photography page, Sassypants Photography , to see her amazing work! (Seriously, she?s brilliant.)
